Spring Awakening Cast:

David McLaughlin as Melchior

David McLaughlin trained at The Arden School of Theatre.

Previous roles include: Lance in ‘Die Mommie, Die! ‘(Manchester Fringe); Bonneface in ‘The Replacement ‘(Riverside Theatre); Gav/Henry in ‘Tangent ‘(New Diorama). Roles while training: Macbeth, James Fitzgerald in ‘The Good Hope’, The Waiter in ‘Confusions’.

David completed training in Manchester in 2011. He then got distracted by the shiny lights of London and amid many personal and financial woes did a bit of acting to pass the time.

He was then involved in Fringe theatre in Manchester, Ireland and London before moving to London full time. David is grateful for the opportunity to play great roles with such a strong and exciting company. If you are reading this on the later leg of the tour and David looks a little rough, and not quite like his rather resplendent headshot, please forgive him. Touring has been more difficult than he expected.

Gabrielle Dempsey as Wendla

Gabrielle graduated from The Central School of Speech and Drama in 2010. Her professional theatre credits include N.F Simpson’s sell-out ‘If So, Then Yes’ at the Jermyn Street Theatre and the devised ‘Opera Certain Circles’, a collaboration project with Harrison Birtwhistle.

She has a working relationship and has appeared in many short films in association with the London Film Academy, one of which won Nivea’s Million Moments of Closeness short film campaign.

Theatre during training includes: ‘All my Sons’ (Embassy Theatre), Adela in ‘The House of Bernada Alba’, Rosalind in As You Like It, Road, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’, ‘Richard III’, ‘The Oresteia’, ‘Rape Upon Rape’, ‘Picnic’, ‘Vassa Zheleznova’ and ‘Meet Mr Mulliner’.

Christopher Smart as Moritz

Christopher grew up in Lichfield, Staffordshire. He trained at Birmingham School of Acting. He has worked as an actor both in England and Italy. Theatre credits include: Young Shepherd, ‘The Winters Tale’ (Pendley Shakespeare Festival); Abraham Slender, ‘The Merry Wives of Windsor’ (Pendley Shakespeare Festival); Wit, ‘The Marriage of Wit and Wisdom’  (The Lion’s Part/Shakespeare’s Globe) Drakino, ‘The Queen and Mr B’ (Teatro Della Cadutta). He has also played roles in two films currently in post production.

He is a keen musician playing both the Guitar and Banjo. He enjoys folk music and studying the Italian language. Follow Christopher on twitter @smartcasual86.

Gemma Barrett as Frau Bergman

Gemma trained in Acting at Mountview, graduating in 2009.

Georgina Periam as Frau Gabor

Georgina trained at East 15 Acting School. Recent credits include The March Hare in How Hatter Went Mad at The Cockpit Theatre; Beth Claymour in Project X, an interactive theatre show at The London Transport Museum; Mary Dedalus in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man at South Hill Park; Sue/Jane in Where’s Your Mama Gone? at The New End.

She has also worked with several educational companies touring Shakespeare plays in Europe including Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Nurse in Romeo and Juliet and Helena in A Midsummer Nights Dream.

         

           Zachary Holton as Herr Gabor

2010 had Zac celebrating 25 years working in professional theatre. Starting at the tender age of 15 by securing for himself the sponsorship from a local firm which enabled him to work as an acting ASM for the Nottingham Playhouse, he made his acting debut in the world stage premier of Room at  the Top. Zac has had a broad and diverse career in hundreds of film, television and stage productions ranging from performance to directing, design and company management across the UK and internationally.

The past 48 months has seen Zac continue his eclectic career by touring the UK & Ireland as Tour Manager with Strauss Gala and Over the Rainbow; the Eva Cassidy story with Faye Tozer (Theatre Productions); touring the United Kingdom and Ireland with The Importance of Being Oscar (Original Theatre Company); playing the dastardly Captain Hook in Peter Pan (Little Theatre Sherringham); Director for an open air production of Jane Austen’s Emma (Heartbreak Productions); Company Stage Manager for Cinderella (Palace Theatre Newark); Snow White (Marina Theatre Lowestoft).

Kaiden DuBois as Hanshen

Kaiden trained as an actor at Bath Spa University as part of the vocational BA (Hons) Performing Arts programme there, graduating with First Class Honours in 2011.

Since graduating Kaiden has concentrated on theatre acting, where his true love lies, always relishing opportunities to tackle the work of the Bard. Theatre credits include: Mad Lear in ‘Lear 1864Trail of Tears’  (Full Tilt, Bristol Shakespeare Festival 2011); Paris in ‘Romeo & Juliet ‘(Random Occurrence, the Actor’s Church Covent Garden), Col. Kearney/Mr Sugar in ‘Nights at the Circus ‘(Tinted Glass, Ustinov Bath)

This will be Kaiden’s second outing with Icarus now after joining the cast of Macbeth as Malcolm towards the end of the company’s last tour and he is delighted to be working with the company again. Nicole Anderson

Nicole Anderson as Ilse 

Nicole is a youthful, energised and creative actress who trained at East 15 Acting School having previously studied English and Theatre at the University of Warwick. She has passion for both stage and screen work and is experienced in both. Nicole has been seen as episode leads in Doctors (BBC) and Perfect Disaster (Discovery Channel/ Channel 5), as well as appearing in children’s TV series Star (Tiger Aspect), and most recently in sit com pilots Doubt on Loan (NFTS) and How Not to Do (Courtyard Productions). Nicole has also been seen in commercials and corporate films and has worked with award winning independent film companies including Fingercuff Productions and Fidget Films. Nicole’s stage experience is varied and ranges from Victorian classics such as Dracula (the Broadway Theatre) and Pygmalion (Michael Friend Productions summer tour), to the puppetry show The Girl with No Heart (Sparkle and Dark’s Travelling Players) and to devised and interactive pieces such as Tails of the Stray Dog (Battersea Arts Centre) and Picnic with Persephone (Secret Garden Party). Recently Nicole founded Stand Sure Theatre, and co-directed and performed in the company’s first production How Hatter Went Mad; it was during this production Nicole was spotted for the role of Ilse.
